No, I meant the ODBC driver and unixODBC versions, not the
mxODBC versions :-)

After connecting you can find this information using .getinfo():

            import mx.ODBC.unixODBC as database

or by looking at your system configuration.

It's possible that SA converts this to Unicode somewhere down
the line. That would explain why the Unicode version of the
ODBC API call is used with the driver.
