mxODBC Connect™ is new client-server product from eGenix that enables easy and secure access from any Python application to remote databases on your network.
In order to give a complex new product such as mxODBC Connect extensive field testing, we have decided to open up the development process after our internal beta tests and start a public beta program.
In order to make participation in the beta program more interesting for the users, we will be giving out discount coupons to all participants who report back bugs in the product. The coupons will give you a 20% discount on the retail price of the product and are valid until 2008-12-31.
The public beta will run for a couple of weeks, after which we'll announce the final product release. During the beta we will be releasing patch level updates of the product as necessary - hopefully, not too many.
Beta testers are expected to sign up to our eGenix Beta mailing list. New patch level releases will be announced on that list. Posting to the list is restricted to list members in order to prevent spam.
To sign up to the mailing list, please provide you email address below. An email asking for confirmation will be sent to you, asking you for approval of the signup. The mailing list password for accessing your subscription options will then follow in a join confirmation email.
You can unsubscribe at any time. Please read our privacy policy for details on how we protect your privacy.

One license is needed per installation of the mxODBC Connect Server. The evaluation licenses have a built-in timeout of 30 days, but are otherwise fully functional.
If your eval licenses time out before the end of the beta program, please contact eGenix.com Sales Team. We will then issues new ones for you to continue testing.
If you have problems using the evaluation license page, please send an email to the eGenix.com Sales Team and include the following information: product name (ie. "mxODBC Connect Server Eval License"), name of the licensee, number of evaluation licenses.
Please see the mxODBC Connect product page for details on downloading and installing the product. If you have problems downloading the server of pyOpenSSL, please let us know.
If you have questions, please ask on the eGenix Beta Mailing List.
Please see the product documentation for details on how to configure mxODBC Connect Server and Client.
This usually only requires editing an INI-file in both the server and client installation and should be completed in a few minutes.
Please see the product documentation for details on how to use mxODBC Connect and the steps necessary to port existing mxODBC stand-alone or other Python DB-API applications to mxODBC Connect.
Please send bug reports to the eGenix Beta Mailing List.
The reports should include a short description of the problem and - if needed - also include details about the setup you are using.
Since mxODBC Connect is a network-driven application, please check that firewalls, virus scanners, etc. are configured to actually allow connections and communication between the clients and the server. mxODBC Connect Server uses ports 6632 and 6633 per default, but can also be configured to work on other ports.
Thank you for participating !
